MJ McInerney Reserve – Best Playground Award

The reinvention of MJ McInerney Reserve, Kilkenny, received the award for Best Playground Over $500k at the Parks & Leisure Australia (SA/NT) Awards of Excellence, held Wednesday night at The Lights Community and Sports Centre.

The reserve was transformed in 2019/20 with new play equipment for a variety of ages, as well as new BBQs, seating, shelters, footpaths, a skate park and basketball court.

The annual Parks & Leisure Australia Awards of Excellence are judged by industry representatives from other states and recognise the outstanding initiatives and innovative efforts in the parks and leisure sector.  The winners of state awards will now progress through to the national finals, where winners will be announced later this year.

A special mention to Jarrad Healy for the design, Tony Mills for project management and the broader Open Space, Recreation and Property, and Field Services teams for their input into this fantastic project.
