We’re delighted to announce our Mayor Angela Evans has been elected President of the Local Government Association (LGA) of South Australia.
Mayor Evans stood for election alongside Town of Gawler Mayor Karen Redman and Adelaide Hills Council Mayor Jan-Claire Wisdom.
She said she was excited by the opportunity to continue her service to the local and wider community.
“I love Local Government and value its importance in meeting the needs of our citizens and communities,” she said.
“This passion is why I want to be at the table when decisions are being made, and to champion local government in a way that is non-partisan, working collaboratively with all political parties as well as the Minister for Local Government, partnering to enhance South Australian communities.
“The term ahead presents a range of challenges for our sector, however our focus will always be on what is best for our communities. I look forward to working with South Australian communities and levels of government to demonstrate our local government commitment to enhancing the lives of people within our communities.
“Thank you to our outgoing President Sam Telfer for his significant contribution, and thank you to the sector for supporting us as we transition into the new term.”
LGA Presidency alternates every two years between a metropolitan and a regional mayor.
Mayor Evans will officially begin her term as LGA President following the LGA AGM on Thursday, 29 October.
Congratulations to our Mayor!
