With 40C days expected this week, now is the time to ensure you can stay cool.
Our beautiful beaches are a great place to escape the heat and we ask that you continue to follow the SA Health guidelines. These include:
- If you are unwell, stay home
- Please wear a mask when outside your home
- Physically distance. Stay 1.5metres away from each other, whether you are on the grass, sand or water.
- Wash your hands. There are public toilets with soap available along the Esplanade.
Please be aware that public pools are not open for recreational swimming due to current COVID-19 restrictions.
Public pools are available for rehabilitation and fitness (lap swimming) purposes only. We recommend contacting your local centre to book for these purposes.
While there are still some restrictions in place, if you are unable to keep cool inside your home or you are not feeling safe, our Libraries and Community Centres all have air-conditioning and cold water.
Please check on elderly or vulnerable neighbours, family and friends and make sure they’re okay. Did you also know the Red Cross offers a call service for those who struggle during a heatwave? To register for the service visit Telecross.
Avoid exercising pets and make sure they have continual access to plenty of fresh, cool water, as well as shade if you can't keep them inside. You can also visit our Dog Blog for inside activities to keep your pet busy.
