Our popular hands-on science discovery program is now available at home online, anytime!
Suitable for kids aged 3-5 years, there are four sessions to watch, each covering a different and fun-filled topic. Watch the 20 minute videos with your child, then have a go at the activities together.
Before starting, we recommend putting together your own Discovery Box, containing the listed or similar items, which you will use during each session. There will also be a list of additional items specific to each session.
- 1 large box or bag to pack everything in
- 1 ruler and/or tape measure
- 1 timer or mobile phone with a timer or a clock with a second hand
- 2 plastic cups
- 2 big rubber bands
- Approximately 4 metres of string
- 1 chopstick or big spoon
- 1 notebook or paper
- 1 pencil
- 1 magnet or fridge magnet
- 1 coat hanger, metal or child size
- 1 takeaway box or lunch box sized container.
Session 1 - Collecting and Classifying
Session 2 - Measuring and Recording
Session 3 - Experimenting
Session 4 - Science Fair
In this session, we start discussing the science behind last session's experiments and how science is just a systematic way of answering questions. We'll then see how to set up for our disappearing pencil, magnify with a glass of water, kissing balloons and raw or boiled experiments.
Thank you for joining our Little Bang Discovery in Demand program, which has been brought to you by Inspiring South Australia, Libraries SA and the Children's Discovery Museum.
Please take a moment to share with us your feedback about the sessions.
