Live and Local

Funding has been exhausted for the Live and Local grant stream for this financial year.

Please enquire in the new financial year.

Purpose

Support local musicians, live music venues and small businesses to host live music experiences across our City.

Live and Local events must be within the same financial year the application is submitted.

We encourage applicants to apply for funding a minimum of one (1) month prior to the event start date.

To be eligible for a Live and Local grant you must be an artist, gig promoter or arts organisation presenting a NEW live music performance or NEW music initiatives and projects featuring South Australian artists within the City of Charles Sturt. These grants must be artist, promoter or arts organisation initiated and administered applications and cannot be initiated by the business or venue where the performance or project is presented.

Ongoing projects and music performances that are a part of a venue’s ‘business as usual’ expenses (eg, concert hall, theatre or music venue) or at venues that normally pay artists to perform are not eligible for Live and Local grants. Exceptions may be made to the above if the application is for a trial or new and temporary music project different to the venue’s core business.

To be considered for funding you must answer yes to all the following:

  • I have a current ABN.
  • My Live and Local event will be located within the City of Charles Sturt.
  • I am requesting funding for a new Live and Local event that will be delivered before 30 June 2024.
  • I am not (or immediate relative of) a City of Charles Sturt staff member or Elected Member.

In addition to the program eligibility applicants who:

  • Reside in the City of Charles Sturt will be the primary focus, unless otherwise agreed to with the local business or venue.
  • Applicants will only be funded for a maximum of two consecutive years. Applicants who have not received funding in the previous financial year will be given a higher priority.

If you are planning an event or festival, you may wish to consider our Events and Festivals Sponsorship fund.

We encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Artists, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Artists and from Artists with Disability.

  • Music events, ideas and experiences that take place outside the City of Charles Sturt's boundaries.
  • A repeat of a live music event in the same venue or business that has benefited from a Live and Local grant supported event in the same or previous financial year
  • Business as usual activities, ongoing projects, and core business. Eg. Venues or businesses that regularly provide paid gigs for live music as part of their entertainment expenditure or music programming (new creative music projects, experiences and trial projects, different to core business, however, will be considered).
