On Monday 23 October 2017 demolition of the existing St Clair Recreation Centre began, in preparation for the construction of the circa $26 million revitalised six court stadium and regional outdoor play space.
Mayor Angela Evans, the Premier of South Australia and Member for Cheltenham the Hon. Jay Weatherill, the Minster for Education and Child Development and Member for Port Adelaide the Hon. Dr Susan Close and the Speaker of Parliament and Member for Croydon the Hon. Michael Atkinson attended the beginning of the demolition works.
Demolition was completed at the end of December 2017.
