Tenders

Each year, Council spends funds on a variety of works, goods and services to provide roads, recreation and community facilities, parks, trees and more. We work to achieve value for money for our community through a strategic and cost effective approach and support local businesses wherever possible.

Our aim is to ensure that public funds are spent in a way that is fair and transparent.

The procurement approach for these projects varies in method, relative to the risk, complexity and value of the project.

We review a number of factors including:

  • Quality, performance and experience
  • Capacity and Capability
  • Value for money
  • Local supply chain
  • Environmental sustainability/recycled content

You can learn more about procurement in the City of Charles Sturt Procurement Policy.

SA Tenders

The State Government’s Tenders and Contracts site is commonly used for public tendering for major purchases of goods, services and works.

The SA Tenders and Contracts website is used for many public procurement activities in South Australia. You can use it to lodge electronic tender submissions. It lets you download tender documents like conditions of tender, draft conditions of contact, project specification/briefs, relevant policies and return schedules.

You can register with SA Tenders and Contracts to receive notification of upcoming public tenders. Visit their Frequently Asked Questions for more information.

We also endeavour to share Open Tenders on our LinkedIn page wherever possible.

Buy Local

Wherever possible to the extent permitted by law, we will give preference to local business when all other commercial considerations are equal (e.g. capability, capacity and competitiveness).

We are also committed to maximising the skills, development and employment opportunities available in the City.

Therefore, consideration may be given, where practicable and appropriate, to incorporate strategies in our procurement process that support local employment and training, which may include Contractors engaging apprentices, trainees and cadets in their work practices.

Buy Local events and tender writing workshops have also been held to help our local businesses access government contracts.

Our procurement officers can be contacted at procurementservices@charlessturt.sa.gov.au.
