Charles Sturt community donates to those in need this Christmas

15 December 2017

The City of Charles Sturt have partnered with UnitingSA to bring Christmas to those less fortunate. Members of the community have generously donated food and toys via Council’s Libraries, Community Centres and the Enchanted Forest Christmas display.

This year, as part of the UnitingSA Christmas appeal the City of Charles Sturt called on members of the public to offer a helping hand to those in need this festive season.

UnitingSA will distribute the collected donations via their Christmas ‘toy room’, which will open to families from the local area in the week before Christmas.

Across five days, UnitingSA will have approximately 350 families through its doors in Port Adelaide to select a gift they know their child will love to receive.

Families will also be provided wrapping paper and stocking fillers so their child can experience the joy of Christmas.

"Christmas is a time to express gratitude. Cultivating an attitude of gratitude changes perspective, facilitates contentment, and encourages ‘paying it forward’. I can’t think of a better way to ‘pay it forward’ than donating to those in need at Christmas time," Mayor Evans said.
