How do I join the library?

It is free to join the library. Bring your personal identification with your address details into any of our library branches to sign up for your Community Card.

Can I make a Council Payment at the Library?

Council payments can be made (by cheque or EFTPOS) at the libraries during weekdays.

Library locations and opening hours.

How many items can I borrow?

There are limits to the amount of items that registered members of the Library Service may borrow or reserve at a time. If members have been registered for 3 months or more and have complied with Library policies and regulations, they may borrow and/or reserve up to 40 items.

New members may only borrow or reserve up to 5 items at a time for the first 3 months. If there are no overdue penalties accumulated during this interim period, then they may become a full member and can borrow more items as a result. Interim membership may be extended for an additional 3 month period, if Library policies and regulations have not been followed.

For how long can I borrow the items?

Books and jigsaw puzzles can be borrowed for 4 weeks unless heavily reserved.  Magazines, video and audio cassettes, CDs, VCDs, DVDs, CD ROMs and materials obtained on Inter Library Loan from outside the Service can be borrowed for 2 weeks

How do I extend a library loan?

The loan period can be renewed for an additional period unless an item is reserved by another borrower or already overdue.

The extension can be arranged in person at your closest library, by phone on 8408 1333 or online by logging into the catalogue. Log on to renew a library loan.

Where do I return items I've borrowed?

Returns can be made at any of our libraries. There are return chutes outside of the libraries for after hours drop offs.

How do I request an item?

Use the library catalogue to search for an item. You can request for the item to be reserved for you and delivered to your nearest library when it is available.

Log onto the Library catalogue

If the Charles Sturt Library Service doesn't have a copy of what you are looking for you can make a request for the item

Request an Item

If the item appears suitable for the collection and is under 3 years old it may be purchased as a permanent part of our collection.  If it is more than 3 years old or no longer in print, the item can still be obtained via the interlibrary loans process.
