Open Space

There are over 390ha of open space in the City of Charles Sturt. This includes reserves, parks, beaches, trails, sportsgrounds, civic areas, play spaces and linear park corridors.

Playgrounds

Council maintains and operates 110 playgrounds throughout the City. These come in all shapes and sizes and our aim is to have a playground located within about 500 metres or 15 minutes walking distance of all residents.

Safety checks are carried out on playgrounds on a regular basis - but we need your help to keep us informed about any damaged equipment, so please report damage on 8408 1111.

Parks and Reserves

Hundreds of parks for leisure and pleasure can be found across the City - and people of all ages can take part in a variety of activities.

Our parks also play an important role in the appearance of our suburbs, providing eye-catching, safe and relaxing surrounds - so why not pay a visit and enjoy some of the facilities available

Community Tennis Courts

In recent years there has been an increasing demand for community-use courts for a range of activities such as tennis, basketball, netball, roller blading and learning to ride a bike.  There are 19 locations within the City where you can find a community-use court and have a hit of tennis free of charge. These courts are available on a first-come-first-serve basis and we ask players to limit games to one hour if others are waiting to use the court.

A range of other activities are provided for young people within the City, with a popular skate park at Collins Reserve (Valetta Road, Kidman Park) and Henley Oval (White Street, Henley Beach). A BMX track is located at Aquatic Reserve (Bower Road, Semaphore Park). A total of 24 of our parks have basketball mini-courts where you can take your netball or basketball and practice your shooting skills.
