Election Signs on Roads and Road Infrastructure

Candidates of political parties involved with elections at a Federal, State or Local Government level are no longer required to apply for a permit to affix election signs once a writ has been issued. In line with Council’s Election Signs Policy, the General Approval aims to provide permission without the need to follow the traditional application for permit process, provided that the requirements of the General Approval are fully complied with.

What are the costs?

There are no application or permit fees.

What do you need to know?

The Application for Permit is no longer required to be completed and lodged to obtain approval from Council as long as the candidate is able to comply with the guidelines contained within the General Approval.

How to apply?

Please read the General Approval to Place Election Signs on Roads and Road Infrastructure and accompanying Election Signs Policy. As long as you are able to operate within the Guidelines, further approval is not required.

What happens next?

Your signs can be placed in accordance with the General Approval to Place Election Signs on Roads and Road Infrastructure.
