Election Signs

Please make sure you are following the rules when posting Elections Signs...

Section 226(3) of the Local Government Act allows for a moveable sign advertising candidates for State or Commonwealth Election to be placed on a road without the Council’s permission, providing it is displayed during the period commencing at 5pm the day before the issue of the writ for the election and ending at the close of polls on polling day.

If the signage complies with the General Approval to Place Election Signs on Roads and Road Infrastructure and accompanying Election Signs Policy a permit is not required from Council.

Signage related to the up coming State Election can be erected at or after 5pm on Friday 16 February 2018.

A permit from Council will be required for any signs that are placed on council or local government land, other than roads.
