Neighbour Day

What is Neighbour Day?

Neighbour Day is Australia’s annual celebration of community, encouraging people to connect with those who live nearby.

City of Charles Sturt see this day as a perfect opportunity to say “Hello and thanks” for being a great neighbour.

When is Neighbour Day?

Neighbour Day is celebrated on the last Sunday in March every year.  In 2017, Neighbour Day falls on Sunday 26 March.

Let’s make every day Neighbour Day!

Why, Neighbour Day?

The principal aim of Neighbour Day is to build better relationships with the people who live around us, especially the elderly and vulnerable.   Neighbours are important because good relationships with others can change communities as it prevents loneliness and isolation.

What can we do?

There are a number of ways you can celebrate Neighbour Day, whether it be a cuppa with a neighbour, inviting your street to a BBQ or picnic in the park or taking part in our Social Media competition (more details coming soon).
