If you are proposing an activity that may generate a Local Nuisance under the Local Nuisance and Litter Control Act 2016, and there are exceptional circumstances, you can apply for an exemption.
Exemptions may be issued for reasonable short-term activities, such as major construction activities, large concerts, festivals or events where the nuisance is unavoidable and Council can impose strict conditions to help minimise the impact.
Applications must be accompanied by a nuisance management plan describing the steps that will be taken to prevent, minimise or address any nuisance and describe the exceptional circumstances to justify why the exemption should be granted.
All exemptions are published online.
There is a non-refundable application fee of $50. In addition, any costs incurred by Council such as those associated with environmental monitoring or advertising will be passed onto the applicant.
